Who We are

AISHWARIAM SOCIAL WELFARE ORGANISATION AND RESOURCE TRAINING CENTRE (ASWO) is a developing resource centre established for the upliftment of vulnerable sections. It was founded by S. Joel Sathiya Kumar M.H.R.M.,D.L.L., and registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act of 1975, on 30th Aug 2006.
    The Organisation began its service vehemently among dalit and vulnerable women in starting Self Help Groups (SHGs) in and around Coimbatore district providing them capacity building and income generation activities. The organisation is proud to claim that it has around 3,000 women involved in various activities.
The vision and mission of ASWO is to empower women belonging to dalit and vulnerable groups by providing skill training for a Socio Economic Upliftment providing them a sustainable livelihood. Grants from NABARD, Ministry of Rural Developent and Infosys focused on transforming the lives of the target women extensively.
ASWO focuses on health and hygiene laying emphasis on HIV/AIDS, Reproductive and Child Health, and also education among Dalit, People living with HIV/AIDS (PLHAs), and HIV/AIDS affected – infected children in extending care and support and help them enhance their livelihood providing them a sustainable livelihood and the work also includes reducing social discrimination and stigma particularly among the most vulnerable and marginalized communities.
Another milestone in ASWO’s service is providing awareness on TB among the dalit in slum areas around Periyanaickenpalayam block, the project is in collaboration with Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI). The activities carried out are sputum collection and testing and identifying people with TB positive, and those affected people are referred to DOTS for further treatment.
