Investing in women’s economic empowerment sets a path towards gender equality, poverty eradication, inclusive growth and resilience. Women entrepreneurs and their increasing presence in India have significantly influenced the social and economic demographics of the country. The participation of women in the labour force has helped millions of families to pull out of poverty and has led to job creation. Women are well known for their leadership skills and hence dominate in micro enterprises with small investment. This attitude towards work and commendable business skills have also emphasized the importance of women in the micro enterprises. Globally, for various reasons women are now primary breadwinners in 40% of households.
Convinced of this, ASWO introduced a Project by name HOPE. Project HOPE renders a helping hand to destitute, vulnerable and disadvantaged women to set up small-scale business enterprise and also supports in upscaling their business. The main objective is to guide, encourage and empower women entrepreneurs to start micro enterprises for the socio-economic upliftment of such women. These beneficiaries were of widows who lost their husbands due to Corona, physically challenged and downtrodden women from Coimbatore district. They were helped to start small businesses like selling of Tender Coconut, Flower Merchant, Fruits Merchant, Detergent Powder and the like.
Each woman earns about 5000 per month and is happily making their homes and their children studying in schools. The Organisation has a track record in supporting women build their livelihood on their business and live a testimony in the society. This has changed their lives and they lead a life of contentment.
