ASWO initiated this Kudumbha Shree Project with a view to eradicate poverty through concerted community action, by facilitating organization of the poor for combining self-help with demand-led convergence of available services and resources to tackle the multiple dimensions and manifestations of poverty, holistically, with a tie-up of ICICI Bank the Organisation supports in availing bank loans for these SHG Women for starting small scale business.
A block level EDP (Entrepreneurial Development Programme) meeting is organized in 5 blocks to motivate and orient on the various phases of Business and the nuances to run a successful business. Animator and Representative training along with SHG block level meeting and training is organized and the groups will be educated on maintaining SHG accounts, Income generation, involving the group in social activities etc. These trainings provide ample exposure and knowledge in their specific domain. A periodic monitoring is conducted to assess their performance and inputs is given.
Animator and Representative Trainings are held once in three months for the newly formed self-help groups in their respective places in order to provide an orientation to the Animators and the Representatives for the smooth and successful running of their respective SHGs. They are educated on, holding meetings, maintenance of records and account keeping.
JLG (Joint Liability Group) is another initiative of ASWO where a small group of 5 women are formed and are given support to avail bank loan to start small scale business. These groups are provided with appropriate trainings and business linkages are provided in order to thrive in their business.
The motive behind these initiatives is to bring out the women entangled in usuary interest from those moneylenders who impose exorbitant interest for a meagre loan amount.
