ASWO has introduced a project by name Vazhi Kattuthal, this project aims at sensitizing the community through awareness programmes on various domains such as Health and Hygiene, Environment, Drug abuse, POSH, POCSO, Education and Career advancement, HIV/AIDS, TB, State and Central Government schemes and so on.
The activities include street plays at prominent places, small gatherings and distribution of handbills regarding the causes, effects of HIV/AIDS and TB.
ASWO initiative this Kudumbha Shree Project with a view to eradicate poverty through concerted community action, by facilitating organization of the poor for combining self-help with demand-led convergence of available services and resources to tackle the multiple dimensions and manifestations of poverty, holistically, With the help of ICICI Bank the Organisation supports in availing loans for these SHG Women for starting small scale business.
The block level meeting will be organized in 5 blocks. Animator and Representative training along with SHG block level meeting and training will be organized and the groups will be educated on maintaining accounts, Income generation, involving the group in social activities etc will be discussed with them.
Animator and Representative Trainings once in three months to the newly formed self-help groups in their respective places in order to orient the Animators and the Representatives for the smooth and successful running of their respective SHGs. They were educated how to hold the meetings, Record maintenance and accounts keeping.
Girl’s education is like sowing the seed to raise the green plant of a charming full-grown family which bears fruits. Today’s girl child will be the mother of tomorrow. As citizens of democratic India, women have equal right for education. Here Girl’s education should not mean cramming few books, memorizing some typical numerical problems but, it should mean in terms of providing ample opportunities to girls in involving the system.
Menstrual hygiene and management are an issue that is insufficiently acknowledged and has not received adequate attention in either education or the water and sanitation sector. However, the studies that do exist indicate that among the adolescent school girls menstrual knowledge and perceptions are poor and practices often not optimal for proper hygiene. Hence such kinds of issues are addressed among students.
Preventing and effectively addressing sexual harassment of women in work places is a significant challenge, but we are optimistic that industries can meet that challenge—if they demonstrate the will to do so. We conducted such training to women working in companies including textile industries in an around Coimbatore. The aim of the Training is to understand the concept of gender discrimination, sexual harassment, workplace and two basic types of sexual harassment at workplace and how it is related to gender discrimination. We have formed Committees comprising of women and provide trainings on the below mentioned topics.
Women Leadership programme was organized for the welfare of the women (including minorities). The training of the programme covered various aspects such as Digital India, Importance of Savings, Self Help Group, Leadership skills, Interpersonal skills, Personal health and girl children hygiene etc. The women were encouraged and motivated to look at life from a healthier and a better perspective. The programme aimed at Women Empowerment and Leadership skills. After the completion of the training programme, motivation was given to form a Self-Help group to encourage self-employment and become successful entrepreneurs
The programme aimed at creating awareness on skill trainings and the various job opportunities that are available in the Government sector. A counseling session was also done along with the seminar which elaborated on the benefits of the training which also served as a guidance on the various schemes in the Government sector.
This initiative was a unique effort to create awareness to the public on savings and investment schemes in the Government and Insurance sectors. Monetary Saving for a better future is completely absent in the minds of the middle-class people and the lower income strata. This project enables them to look at savings and investments from a completely new and a mandatory perspective. The project aims at creating awareness among the people on the importance of savings and its benefits. People enthusiastically participated in the programme and were benefitted from it.
Anti-Drugs Awareness programme is conducted for public, mainly for young boys and girls . The programme aims at providing awareness and educating the young boys and girls on the evil effects of Drugs. They are also given information on the percentage of men and young boys and girls who are influenced under drugs and thereby how their families are affected because of this drug addiction. The families are distorted and separated and the children are unable to continue their studies as the head of the family is addicted to drugs. Addiction is completely curable, there are many de-addiction centres and rehabilitation centres for the benefit of the drug addicts. There are a lot of people who have been cured and family counseling is provided for them to get back to normalcy in life and to start a new life.
